Thrifting How-Tuesday
DIY Jewelry Display
I love jewelry. Vintage, modern, delicate, bold, quirky, refined…I feel that a woman’s jewelry tells a lot about her – it’s a further expression of her personality. I have collected a lot over the years, and think it’s a shame to only see it one piece at a time when I’m wearing it. Despite having a very nice jewelry box, I decided to create a wall display that can give me easy access to the pieces I love, while still being aesthetically charming.
The way I chose to tackle this is keeping the display in one spot on the wall. If you want to be able to move it, there’s a couple more steps to add a padded back piece. For my version of the project though, here’s how you do it.
What You’ll Need:
– medium sized picture frame (Thrift Town)
– hammer & nails to hang the frame
– thumbtacks
– small metal hooks (hardware store)
– your jewelry & creativity!
How To Do It:
I started with a sweet gold vintage frame from Thrift Town ($2.99). It’s not huge but still gives me enough space for quite a few pieces.
You can pick your display pieces a number of ways:
if you don’t have a ton of jewelry, display it all.
If you’re picking & choosing, you can go with a particular color pallette as I did,
or simply pick the most interesting pieces.
Get a bunch of thumbtacks and start trying out different configurations with the jewelry you want to display. You can make neat rows or mix it up a bit like I did.
The thumbtacks leave the least amount of damage on your wall, making it possible to hang, reconfigure, and hang agai n with no sweat.
Once you have it all laid out exactly how you want it, leave all the jewelry hanging on the thumbtacks so you don’t forget your grand plan, and one by one, replace the thumbtacks with the metal hooks from the hardware store – no tools required! I chose brass shoulder hooks, but there are a bunch of different kinds of finishes, as well as hooks. Pick the right size, finish and shape for you.
Ta-Da! You can easily do this project in under an hour,
and it’s a fun way to add a little style to your walls.

I can’t wait to try this project at home. I bet my girls would love one too. Thanks for the idea!
This is a fab idea! It’s simple and a great way to find your jewlery/home decore! I am soooo doing this!
I’m happy you guys like it – it really was fun (and easy!) to do. I would LOVE to see a little girl’s version – it would be so cute!
Anyone who tries this project at home – send me pictures!

Love this!!!
I would probably add a cushioned backing to the frame rather than sticking the hooks directly into the wall. That way it doesn’t damage the wall and it can be moved when redecorating.
Such an awesome idea.

(just so you don’t have to poke a bunch of holes in the wall.)
