IT’S A NEW YEAR, WITH NEW WINNERS!
Happy Thursday, Thrift Fans! Here at Thrift Town, we love hearing from you, our loyal and thrifty customers. It’s so great to see pictures & hear the stories behind the treasures you find and the creative ways you incorporate them into your lives. Thrift Town’s quarterly “What a Find” contest is a great way for us to show off what you all have sent in and celebrate thrift together.
As always, it was hard to choose for each category, but we’ve narrowed it down and notified the lucky winners. Whether it’s reusing items to make more reusable items, getting stylish high-end fashion for way less, or using thrifted items as the starting point for your artistic creations, our winners show off what we love about shopping secondhand at Thrift Town. Each of our featured winners received a $25 Thrift Town Gift Card prize. This is an ongoing contest for us, so if you have something fabulous to share – send it in! For more info click here.
———AND THE WINNERS ARE ———–
BEST Housewares : Ari W, from Oakland CA
On my last visit to Thrift Town, I was looking for materials to use for a craft fair that a few friends and I were entering. I bought a few old tablecloths and a vintage fabric piece to create reusable snack bags. I attached a photo of one of them (the rest sold!).
I also gave a few as gifts- one friend said she was going  to use hers as a makeup bag. I got the idea to make some for my son who is 20 months and is constantly needing a supply of crackers or pretzels. I hate carrying Ziploc bags or bulky Tupperware. They close with velcro. I have to make more asap!
Happy New Year! Ari
Such a great way to recycle and reuse! It’s very responsible to find ways to reuse bags for everyday things you might normally use disposable plastic bags for. Check out our post on cloth drawstring bags!

BEST Collectible:Â Amber R
Dragonfly Pin $3.99
I found this dragonfly brooch buried in a tray of pins. I picked it up because I liked the color and weight of the piece.
When I researched the mark on the back I found out that it was from Jonette Jewelry, a very collectible line. It is from their Artifacts line which dates from the mid 80′s. The piece is pewter and I have found it going for nearly ten times what I paid.
Wow, Amber! Congrats on finding something you like, and also on it being worth quite a bit more than you bought it for. We get some wonderful pieces in our stores and are always happy when they go home with someone who appreciates them.

Best DIY: Â Diana P from San Leandro
My name is Diana and I am a polymer clay artist. Thrift Town is my favorite place to find interesting vessels as a basis for my creations, and I have an Etsy store where I sell my funky wares. Many of the items in my shop started as finds at my local San Leandro Thrift Town. Each was layered by hand with custom tones of clay.

Glass bottle purchased for $3.95 + 30% off .  Thanks for taking a look.
Our customers’ creativity is always so fun to see!
We’re happy to be the starting point for many creative endeavors.

BEST FASHION FIND: Ann T. from Sacramento CA
I found a fall 2008 Gucci silk dress at Carmichael CA Thrift Town for 5.99 on 10/15/11!
This is only the second Gucci I have ever thrifted, and I have been an avid thrifter for over 20 years! I blogged about it on my blog, Annimal House, cause I had to brag! Thanks Thrift Town!
We’ve been a fan of Ann’s for awhile now – her incredible sense of style, her sassy, no-nonsense demeanor, and of course – her love for thrifting and sharing it with the world. Congrats, Ann on finding such a great high-end dress! Thanks for always sending us your awesome finds. Keep it up! We can’t wait to see what you find next!

Best Bargain Winner: Sandra B. from New Mexico
I was shopping at your Albuquerque store, when I came across a Red And White #7 Elway Football Jersey! My husband being a huge Bronco fan I decided to buy it it was 25.00.
When I got home my husband was very excited! It was a Throwback from the 1995 Pro Bowl in Hawaii. We looked it up online and found out, it’s worth $375.00! He is so proud of his Jersey and gets so many complements when he wears it. I was the All Star that day!
Thank You ! Sandra
It’s so great when a customer comes in, finds something they love, and it also ends up being really valuable. It’s like a double-win. Glad your husband loves his jacket!
