Even for the experienced thrifter, coming into a Thrift Town for the first time can be quite the experience. Our San Francisco store is pretty massive, and enough of a destination that when a thrifty blogger from New York visited the city by the bay, she HAD to stop in and share the love with her readers:
Patrice who writes “Looking Fly on a Dime”, has been a guest on the Nate Burkus Show,
as well as having a regular segment on a NYC TV show as a Thrifting Guru.
It’s summertime, and for Patrice, looking chic for cheap in New York
(or anywhere!) involves cute easy to wear dresses.
Here’s a couple of the dresses she HAD to have & took back to NYC to show off there:

With these two dresses + a handbag, a silk blouse and a few more items,
she still spent under $20 by honing in on our color tag sale.
You don’t get the title Thrifting Guru without taking advantage of sales!
Whether you’re a guru, novice or just a thrift-lovin’ regular,
get in and get your summer wardrobe essentials!

Love Salt Lake City’s ThriftTown. Started shopping there when it first opened…about 1990. Have purchased many crystal and porcelain items, but also name brand clothing. Some BEST BUYS: Brand new cashmere sweater with original store price tag still
attached of $119.00. My cost: $15.00. Another:
Brand new pair of Dr. Scholl’s sport shoes for $5.00.
My newest love is a rosy red summer knit suit that
goes with my red patent heels beautifully!! (cost about $6.00).
I do have two complaints: 1. It seems that all some employees get to price things…and SOME are marked at (KMART) NEW STORE prices…BAD NEWS. I refuse to go for this baloney.
2. TT no longer accepts checks. I have spent as high as $200 in one month…way back. Now that I carry little cash ever…TT wants CASH ONLY or CREDIT CARD..a NO NO NO for me. So I spend only a fraction of what I used to at my favorite TT, and have started visiting SAVER’S a lot more on their special SENIORS STOREWIDE DISCOUNT WEDNESDAYS. Sorry TT…You’ve priced me out in a big way.
Thank you, regardless. Hope things return to consistent TREASURE HUNT PRICES.
Dear Vesta,
Thank you so much for being such a great customer and fan of Thrift Town Salt Lake City! We truly value your business and your comments.
We always try to price items to the best of our abilities, because each item is unique, sometimes we get it wrong… and then the item(s) sit around until they are 50% Off at the Weekly Color Tag sale, so eventually it works out. Sometimes we also price a valuable item too low and that’s exciting for the customer when that happens. With that said, we aim to price our items right the first time, so I will forward your comments about pricing to our management team.
I wish I could tell you that we could accept checks, but we could no longer afford to handle the number of bounced checks that we received. We do take debit cards (with the Visa or Master Card symbol) which are tied to your checking account, so I hope this can help you out. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Keep on sharing your great finds with us. You should enter our quarterly What a Find Contest. You can find the details located right here: http://www.thrifttown.com/sales-promotions/on-going-promotions/
Happy Hunting and have a great day!
Sincerely,
-Ashley
