Four monks, a wedding dress and a bird bath… OH MY!Â
Happy Thursday Thrift Fans! Here at Thrift Town, we love hearing from you, our loyal and thrifty customers. It’s so great to see pictures & hear the stories behind the treasures you find and the creative ways you incorporate them into your lives. Thrift Town’s quarterly “What a Find” contest is a great way for us to show off what you all have sent in and celebrate thrift together.
As always, it was hard to choose for each category, but we’ve narrowed it down and already notified the lucky winners. Whether it’s finding that special piece for your special interest, getting stylish high-end fashion for way less, or using thrifted items as the starting point for your artistic creations, our winners show off what we love about shopping secondhand at Thrift Town.
Each of our featured winners received a $25 Thrift Town Gift Card prize.
This is an ongoing contest for us, so if you have something fabulous to share
– send it in! And we added a fun new category; ”What the Thrift? Craziest Thrift Find!”

BEST Housewares : Carol W., Elk Grove CA
I found this Oreck XL vacuum at the Thrift Town at 5005 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento.
I was surprised to see an Oreck at Thrift Town, I had been wanting one
for a long time but just didn’t have the money to buy a brand new Oreck.
I plugged it in and gave it a test run, motor ran fine, and the vacuum itself was in perfect condition
and looked darn near new. The big test was when I got it home and vacuumed my house
and was thrilled to see that it did a beautiful job. What a bargain and what a find, I’m thrilled!
The price was $49 but with my filled super
shopper punch card, it ended up costing me $39.
I’d like to think that Thrift Town puts the FUN back in Functional. Finding great housewares is such a gratifying thing. A great price & value on something you need, especially if it’s something you’d wanted & couldn’t afford before = the best. Enjoy!

Best DIY: Â Paula R., El Sobrante CA
I made this bird bath from a glass lamp  shade I bought at Thrift Town.
I also decorated it up with beads from a necklace I got there too!
I put in some garden stones and added water and the little birds just love it! I think the lamp glass cost $6 and the necklace was $4.  I have made about 6 more and given them away as gifts to friends, each one a bit different. What they have in common is creativity, a lot of love and Thrift Town!
What a pretty and clever idea! Your balcony is lovely too, I’ll bet those birds are so happy.
Thanks for sharing such a fun idea!

BEST FASHION FIND: Oriana C.
I just got engaged and just thinking about everything adding up is about to give me a panic attack. I was at Thrift Town one day and saw wedding dresses in the corner. I would have never thought to look for a wedding dress here!
In addition to my surprise at finding the dresses at Thrift Town in the first place, I was shocked to find a really pretty one in my size! (I wear a plus size, and it’s always quite hard to find.) It was already a great price, at $69.99, but I watched it for three weeks until the “color tag” sale was right.
The price was now down to $35! At the checkout I used my full super shopper punch card and walked away with my wedding dress for $25 (must be over $300 brand new). I couldn’t be happier! I have also found my ring bearer’s pillow, brand new at Thrift Town for $7. This is a bride’s best kept secret!
Best Bargain Winner: Rachel E., Fort Worth TX
I”ve shopped at Thrift Town, for quite some time and am always on the hunt for a bargain.
I love to go first to the purse and shoe section and on a recent trip I found something amazing in my favorite section:
It’s a Hermes bag!
Which I only paid $4.99 for.  YES, I said $4.99. I’ve shown it to quite a few people, and they seem to think it’s an authentic Hermes bag, which are thousands of dollars new. (I’ve also found quite a few Coach, and Dooney & Burke purses.) I think I got a pretty good deal.
It’s so great when our customers find valuable pieces and are able to either
treasure them or really get their money’s worth by selling it to an interested buyer.

Craziest Find Winner: Monique K., San Antonio, TX
I was surprised to find a bunch of little monk figurines at the SA Thrift Town,
so I decided to group them all together to get a shot.
Such a strange thing to have multiples of.
I think one of them is holding a chipmunk (chip-monk?) – so random!
There is no telling what different people like to collect,
and sometimes a whole collection will come our way.
Such a funny set of figurines. Thanks for sharing!
