AUTUMN AWESOME.
Well, the weather hasn’t changed over yet, but it’s definitely time to break out the DIY skills and turn your home into autumn-central. It doesn’t have to break the bank to have your house feel cozy and fall-ready. We gathered a handful of fun (and simple!) DIY projects that will add just a little fun and whimsy to the everyday.
COUNTDOWN!
Chalkboard paint is pretty much a given for any fun DIY roundup. This one can be done on a real or fake pumpkin, but we think a sturdy plastic or plaster one will probably hold up best. Our holiday sections are packed with fun items to add to a project like this. Get kids involved and excited about any upcoming event. Make one for each child’s room, and they can all count down together!
LIGHT MY CANDLE.
Glassware is always a simple way to customize for the changing seasons.
Glass candle holders are usually under $1, and you can fill them with whatever
- popcorn, candycorn, glass beads – you decide!
FRAMED!
Burlap is a wonderfully warm and earthy neutral. This fun craft took burlap and framed it.
- Grab a Thrift Town frame for around $3
- And a Scrabble game for around $4
- Assorted napkins or pillowcases for around $1 each
- Pop out back of the frame, wrap in burlap and staple in place
- Cut out pumpkins (or whatever fall shape you want)
- Use fabric stiffener to keep your shapes in shape
- Allow to dry & add your shapes & letters to your burlap
LEAF IT TO ME.
This is such a whimsical project – do it with kids,
or add it to their rooms for a little fall fun!
BOWLING PARTY.
For fall parties – this is such a colorful and seasonal winner
- punch bowl, main salad, or maybe even party favors.
THAT’S A WRAP!
Maybe the easiest of the lot – cut a circle of any fabric
(again, patterned pillowcases, or sheets),
and wrap up and over a roll of toilet paper. Gather hearty sticks from outside
and insert to keep it all in place. TA-DA! Adorable little pumpkins.

Thank you Jessica! It’s always fun to put together different costumes from our store. Wasn’t our little scarecrow adorable?? All of our crews are awesome (and creative!) Send us pics of anything great you find when you’re shopping our stores – we love hearing from you!
