This week’s easy Thrifty Thursday DIY project, as seen on Good Day Sacramento: Easy DIY Coffee Table Makeovers!
It happens to me every year. Once the holiday decorations come down, things looks about as bare as my post-holiday pocketbook! I’ve been pretty creative in year’s past to satisfy my “let’s redecorate everything in the house” urges, so I wanted to share with you a few low cost DIY tips on how to tame your inner decorator beast. Your hubby and your wallet will thank me (hopefully). This week’s Thrifty Thursday topic: how to spruce up a coffee table, you most likely already have (or get a gently used one at Thrift Town), and turn it into a statement piece that can transform a whole room! Ok, coffee talk time (must only be said using extreme New Yorker accent).
Disclaimer: my affair with Pinterest continues into 2013. Most all inspiration photos shown are pins from my cyber love.
Tip #2: A little paint and a cute stencil can go a LONG way. PS, I love Paris.
Tip #3: Frame it up! I think this is my favorite of the bunch. You can also see the coffee table above with the “Chocolat” wording has a frame. Thrift Town has a ton of very inexpensive frames available, both with and without the framed art work. On Thrifty Thursday I added a frame to the kid’s inspired table (see above video links).
Tip #4: Got kids? Chalkboard paint the top of a coffee table and let your kid’s imaginations run wild. They can write all over it, work out homework problems, draw a train or race car track on the top, and viola, new great piece for the kid’s corner in the family room! Cost of keeping your kids busy, even for five minutes=PRICELESS. I added a frame to my kid table inspiration to help prevent things like crayons and markers from rolling onto (read staining) my carpet.
Tip #5: What time is it? Coffee Table Time! Great, now the High School Musical theme song is stuck in my head…anywhoo, this was my inspiration for my own DIY I did live on Good Day Sacramento with items I had laying around my house. For my finished piece, check out the above link. It looks fab in my living room.
